Om en måneds tid lanserer vi Trikster – Nordic Queer Journal, det første nordiske nettidsskriftet med et queert perspektiv på kultur og politikk. Trikster tematiserer og problematiserer kjønn og seksualitet i dagens samfunn. Vi vil vil vise frem bredden av queere praksiser i Norden, så vel som internasjonalt, og inviterer derfor aktivister, akademikere, kulturarbeidere, kunstnere, politikere og andre til å bidra. Vi ønsker at Trikster skal være et forum hvor forskjellige stemmer og posisjoner kan møtes, og publiserer derfor på engelsk, norsk, dansk og svensk. Trikster vil gjøre queer på mange ulike måter, og tidsskriftet inneholder artikler, intervjuer, kunstverk, video, bilder, anmeldelser og mere til.

Trikster #1 lanseres altså om en måneds tid, og her kan vi by på bidrag fra blant annet Hanna Hallgren, Jenny Tunedal, Agnes Bolsø, Tiina Rosenberg, Andy Candy, Judith Halberstam m.m.! Da åpner vi også Triksters blogg som vil holde folk oppdatert på hva som skjer i Nordens pulserende queer-miljø.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO "QUERYING SPACE"

A query is a form of questioning – a line of inquiry. With the project "Querying space" Trikster – Nordic Queer Journal calls for contributions that interrogate our understandings and uses of space. One of the repeated chants from the social movements today is "MORE FREE SPACES!" The critique of the growing normalization, gentrification, and commercialization of the so-called public space is important. But what is a "free space?" Are there any such things as "free spaces" in our society today? What is happening to our social, sexual, political, private, and public space? What is to be done?

Trikster invites contributors to query space from a queer perspective. We seek contributions from different people in a variety of media (articles, manifestos, literary pieces, artworks, reviews, cartoons, video, etc.) that will shed light on the questions of space. For instance contributions regarding:

– activist strategies for conquering/inhabiting space
– the relation between public and private space
– historical and contemporary understandings of space, place, and site
– space-time structures
– the notion of "queer space" or "hetero/homo-normative space"
– experiences and analyses of sex spaces, net spaces, immaterial spaces, cruising grounds, etc.
– queer architecture/queer structures
– (queer)space manifestos
– reviews of relevant books, exhibitions, artworks, spaces, music, films, etc.

Contributions to the series "Querying Space" will be published in three issues of Trikster, starting in Trikster # 2, during the spring of 2008. Deadline for contributions is March 1, 2008. Send ideas, contributions, and tips to info@trikster.net.

Trikster is the first Nordic web journal with a queer perspective on culture and society. The journal mixes genres and forms and presents a variety of academic, activist, artistic, and political voices. Trikster is open to all kinds of contributions outside of the ongoing series, which only makes up part of each issue. We publish in English, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish!
